I am interested in your quote to enjoy abstract art as you would a symphony. I love orchestral classical music. I am trying to learn to appreciate abstact art. I don’t know why it is difficult for me. Perhaps it is that I dwell too long on the ‘note’s’ and don’t hear abstract art AS A SYMPHONY. I am still chewing on that. Your art is delightful, so suggestive, wonderful happy colours. And for some reason it resonates with me more than a lot of abstract art that I have tried to understand and enjoy. And maybe my choice of words is significant. I don’t try to understand a symphony, I just enjoy it. Maybe I ‘work too hard ‘ at trying to understand abstract art and I need to just enjoy it as I do a symphony!

Good morning Judy, thank you for reaching out. I really like your analogy with music. You are absolutely right. I found this description on the internet and it explains cery well how to appreciate abstract art. “The most important thing to understand about abstract art is that it does NOT have to have a meaning, narrative or even a singular explanation.

The main purpose of abstraction is not to tell a story, but to encourage involvement and imagination. This art form is mostly about providing its viewers with an intangible and emotional experience – more often than not, the experience is completely different for every individual depending on their personality and state of mind.

Therefore, it is really up to the viewer to decide whether the painting in front of them has any meaning or provokes any emotion. As we mentioned, abstract art is all about freedom.”
