Marie-Manon is a contemporary abstract painter. She was born in Montreal Quebec, in 1960. It is only since moving to Calgary, Alberta, in 2010, that she has been able to concentrate on her passion on a full time basis.
Largely self-taught, she has studied several years at the Calgary School of Art and with Jean Pederson and Mario Robinson. Marie-Manon is a permanent artist and an active Board member at Calgary's Motion Gallery. She has participated in numerous art shows in and around Calgary and her work has been sold to numerous private collectors and is in display in several commercial and professional settings.
Her paintings are created through spontaneous and intuitive responses while engaged with the work. Her work consists of blending shapes and colors in layers, which are at the same time comforting and familiar. Each canvas is charged with emotions, which is demonstrated through the movement of the brushwork and the layering of rich colors. What emerges on is a visual display that is highly emotional and personal.
Marie-Manon's ultimate desire is that all who intersect with her art be overcome with the feelings which were present during the creation process: joy, freedom and peacefulness.
